All aboard the festive Science Express!
Children have taken an early trip on the Polar Express as part of a fun-filled day of festive themed scientific study.
From finding elves trapped in ice, to working out the best way to keep hot chocolate warm, all year groups at Park Road Community Primary School got the chance to take part.
The science day was themed around the well-known classic Polar Express and encouraged children to make scientific investigations by asking questions, planning and recording.
In Reception, pupils had to find elves trapped in ice and come up with ways to rescue them. Years 1 and 2 had to carry out research to find the best material to keep Santa dry while in Years 3 and 4, the children designed a new sleigh for Santa!
Year 5 and 6 took on the very important festive task of finding the best way to keep hot chocolate warm!
Science Lead Kathryn Mills said: “ We had such a fun time! My aims as science lead are to build our working scientifically skills, which will support children throughout their learning journey.
“During the day we focused on setting up enquiries and asking questions, planning, doing, recording data and for Key Stage 2 - interpreting data.”
What a great scientific day!
