Year 6 has been busy exploring a range of exciting topics across the curriculum this term from building environmental awareness to finding out about scientific discoveries.

The Park Road Community Primary School pupils have been taking part in a number hands-on learning that encourages curiosity and creativity.

As part of their English lessons the Park Road Community Primary School pupils have been reading Plastic Planet, deepening their understanding of plastic pollution and its impact on the environment. Alongside this, they have also been learning about climate activist Greta Thunberg and her inspiring school strike for climate. Soon, students will be putting their knowledge into action by writing and delivering their own speeches, encouraging others to think about their plastic use.

In Maths, Year 6 has just completed a unit on angle rules and is now moving on to Geometry. Meanwhile, in Science, pupils have been exploring the fascinating properties of light. Recently, they discovered how rainbows form, learning that light slows down and refracts as it passes through a prism, splitting into the vibrant colours of the spectrum.

PE lessons have focused on developing balance and coordination through different jumps and movements, while in Geography, students have been studying mountains and are now beginning an exciting exploration of volcanoes.

A standout moment this term was the class showcase, where Year 6 performed Tyger Tyger. The children took full creative control, incorporating dance, gymnastics, artwork, and even producing a spectacular video backdrop. Their hard work and dedication were evident in every detail, and the performance was a huge success.

Well done, Year 6, for an incredible term of learning, creativity, and achievement!
