Pupils become Science Superheroes

Children became investigating superheroes as part of a number of activities across the school to celebrate British Science Week.
The week’s activities were linked with Park Road Community Primary School’s Working Scientifically focus of 'carrying out an investigation and making predictions'.
With the theme of The Incredibles, each class looked at characters from the well-known animated film and investigated how their special powers would work in real life.
During the week different classes carried out a number of investigations:
• Reception - What is strong?
• Year 1 and Year 2 - What materials would make a good superhero cape?
• Year 3 - How is being invisible helpful?
• Year 4 - How stretchy is elastic?
• Year 5 - What affects how fast we can run?
• Year 6 - Does muscle size affect strength?
British Science Week, organised by the British Science Association, aims to engage young people in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) through fun and thought-provoking activities.
