VE Day celebrations

Children and staff marked VE Day with a range of themed activities aimed at helping them understand the significance of the end of the Second World War in Europe.
Park Road Community Primary School pupils dressed in red, white, and blue, party clothes, or 1940s-style outfits, which helped set the tone for the day, which focused on learning about wartime life and the events surrounding Victory in Europe Day, first celebrated on 8 May 1945.
In the afternoon, an outdoor celebration was held on the school grounds. Pupils took part in several practical activities inspired by wartime Britain. These included a Dig for Victory gardening station, where children planted seeds and learned about food production during rationing. A Make Do and Mend area gave pupils the chance to practice basic sewing skills and discover how families reused materials during times of shortage.
What a great day!
