Our Eco Warriors have become Ambassadors of the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust after the charity came to school for a very special assembly. 

Visitors from the Trust spoke to the children at Park Road Community Primary School about the Mersey Estuary and the work the trust does to protect it. The children were surprised by the wildlife that can be found there including seals and dolphins! 

The Eco Warriors team then had a workshop with the trust and took on the role of ambassadors which will involve sharing the trusts news and delivering information in assemblies as well as visiting the estuary in the New Year. 

Mrs Preston, who works with the Eco Warriors, said: “As ambassadors they will know why the estuary is  important, they will share the trusts news, deliver information in assemblies, be informed about events school can get involved with and help to protect the estuary. They are very excited about their new roles.” 

The Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust is an independent charity that works to protect the Mersey Estuary through practical conservation, research and education. 

As well as visiting the estuary, the Eco Warriors team will also be getting involved in projects with the Trust which will have an impact on the school grounds.  First on the list is the Brimstone Buddies project, a butterfly conservation programme which aims to increase the biodiversity of the school grounds by planting trees, shrubs, and hedgerows which not only increase biodiversity but also develops an even richer environment for the children to play and learn in. 

The eco warriors can't wait to get more involved.
