Reception pupils from Park Road Community Primary School had an exciting and educational day out at Kenyon Hall Farm, where they explored the journey of food from farm to table.

During the visit, the children discovered how everyday favourites such as apple juice and jam are made. They learned about the process of growing fruit and how it is transformed into products they recognise and enjoy. The experience brought classroom learning to life, helping pupils understand the importance of farming in a fun and engaging way.

The trip also introduced the children to a variety of crops, including wheat, oats, and barley. Pupils were able to see these grains growing and learn why they are important, deepening their knowledge of where some staple foods come from.

A highlight of the day was strawberry picking, where each child carefully selected their own fresh strawberries to take home. This hands-on activity was a favourite among the group and provided a memorable connection to nature.

The adventure continued with a tractor ride around the farm, giving pupils the opportunity to see more of the surroundings and experience farm life from a different perspective. The visit concluded with time spent playing in the park, allowing the children to relax and enjoy time together outdoors.

The trip to Kenyon Hall Farm was a wonderful opportunity for Reception pupils to learn, explore and have fun in the open air, creating lasting memories while developing their understanding of the world around them.
