Year 6 had an incredible day exploring the Western Approaches Bunker as part of their history learning.

The children took part in a rationing workshop, creating their very own vegetable mascots to encourage healthy eating during wartime. They then put their problem-solving skills to the test by cracking Morse code messages and learning how ships were tracked across the Atlantic during World War II.

Their detective skills were put to work as they investigated a range of artefacts, deciding whether they were genuine and considering what they may have been used for.

To finish the day, Year 6 explored a fascinating 1940s street scene. With replica artefacts to handle and authentic wartime smells filling the air, it was a truly immersive experience that brought history to life!
