World Book Day

Famous book characters were brought to life at Park Road Community Primary School, when the children dressed up for this year's World Book Day!
With this year’s theme of Read Your Way, pupils and teachers were encouraged to dress their way, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. Pupils arrived dressed in inventive and creative costumes, showcasing their personalities as well as their favourite book characters.
Each class read books about individuals who overcame challenges and achieved success in their own way. These stories led to discussions, writing activities, and artwork, which will be displayed in the school hall.
The day also included opportunities for pupils to read for enjoyment. They shared books with classmates, listened to stories, and explored different genres. The event highlighted the importance of reading in a fun and interactive way.
Teacher Mrs Roberts said: "We had a fantastic day with lots of opportunities to read for pleasure with our classmates and celebrate our love of reading!"
World Book Day was a great chance for pupils and teachers to engage with books in a creative way and for children to develop their literacy skills and appreciation for storytelling.
