Children took their classroom learning on a space exploration when they visited Jodrell Bank.

The Year 5 Park Road Community Primary School pupils headed to the World Famous observatory to learn more about their current science topic of space.

The trip gave the children a chance to find out more about the solar system and how scientists learn about the universe.

Year 5 Teacher Ianthe Shirley said: “We had a great time exploring our Solar System and beyond! Seeing the size of the Lovell telescope left us in awe! Our trip into the space dome had us mesmerised and made us realise just how big the universe is.”

As well as being a well-known visitor attraction, Jodrell Bank has been at the forefront of scientific discoveries for the past 75 years with a Grade 1 listed Lovell Telescope.

Today Jodrell Bank Observatory is owned and managed by the University of Manchester and is a world-leading science research institute, with scientists working at the cutting edge of modern astrophysics.

What a fantastic trip!
